Essential Oils

What are Essential Oils?

Essential oils are basically organic oils because they are extracted from plants. These oils are made when parts, including the bark, flowers, fruit, or leaves, are pressed or steamed and the fragrance is captured. It takes pounds of any plant to create a small bottle of essential oils. Organic oils are used in aromatherapy which is intended to create healthy benefits. When these oils are inhaled, the essence of the oil travels to the nerves in the brain that directly impacts the center of the brain that controls emotion.

These oils can be absorbed into the skin, such as wintergreen, which can help muscles to relax. Lavender is often added to salts for a bath because of their soothing qualities. Essential oils can be used as a natural cure for some common conditions and ailments. They have been known to help some people with depression, anxiety, insomnia, dry mouth, and nausea. These oils can be used in bracelets or necklaces that absorb the oil and you can breathe it in all day long. You can have it mixed in body oil. When essential oils are mixed with carrier oils, they can be rubbed into the skin. If you use them full strength on your skin, they may cause irritation. An aroma stick is another type of an oil inhaler. It is a stick that has a wick that can absorb the oil as it soaks it in. They are covered so that you do not unwrap them until you are ready to use them.
